MOTS-c: what the metabolism research studied
Understand the difference between the original mouse experiments and evidence for a treatment in people.

What is MOTS-c?
MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded within mitochondrial DNA. The researchers who described it in 2015 studied metabolic signaling and reported effects on insulin resistance and obesity in mice. Read the original Cell Metabolism study.
Does that mean it helps people lose weight?
The mouse findings in that study do not establish a weight-loss treatment for people. When a supplier cites it, check the species studied, the outcome measured, and whether it tested the product being sold.
What belongs in a research comparison?
Check the sequence, chemical form, peptide content, batch identity results, and storage requirements. A lower vial price is not enough to compare two materials if one supplier leaves those details out.
If you are looking for treatment for weight or blood glucose, discuss the options with a clinician rather than choosing a research material from a supplier’s catalog.
